Are these looks in full bloom this Spring or need to be archived?
When it comes to a new season, so many new looks are ready to be shared for influence.
Some looks have stayed on top from the last couple of seasons…
I will give my own personal opinion and assestment on them, but feel free to make your own assestment if they are slay or nay?
Old money
Whether it’s Spring in the Hamptons or Spring in Los Angeles, the “old money” style is classic elegance in our fashion culture.
It preserves the look of timeless charm and it is here to SLAY.
The soft neutrals pair well together, alongside the color black. Pops of color can be thrown in to add some fun to the outfits. The outfits tend to stand out with very little logos. If one is graced with the ability to buy Chanel it pairs beautifully with the old money aesthetic along with Ralph Lauren. The style queens that truly made this look a distinguished category were Princess Diana, Jackie Kennedy, Blair Waldorf, and currently leading the look in this generation is Sofia Richie Grainge. If you are trying to achieve this look and believe it is difficult use these photos as inspiration and go with your gut when matching pieces. I’m sure it’ll come out great.
Ballet Core
This style has rolled into spring from last season, and it is definitely a slay or nay.
People either love the look or can’t see themselves wearing it.
The primary colors for the aesthetic are pink and white but many people have started to incorporate black, grey, and cream. This look took me a while to get used to. It definitely was a hard NAY for a long time, because I grew up dancing ballet and wearing ballet core as streetwear was just so shocking to me because I never thought it could be a trend.
Since then, I’ve adjusted to it and warmed up to the idea of ballet core. The pretty shades of pink and the bows have made me shift my mindset because I’m a sucker for shades of pink and lavender. I truly do see the appeal for some people, but I also understand if people do not agree with the style and that’s okay. Everyone has their own style and that’s what makes them unique on the inside and outside.
Season color: Red
How do we feel? Love the red or loath the red?
I’m giving it a SLAY for this season and I have my reasoning why…
Red being a primary color, I believe red commands attention to your outfit. It's a strong pop of color that ties an entire outfit together and makes a strong statement. A quick backstory on the color red: Red is the color of our blood and our hearts, and has symbolized love in cultures across the world for centuries. It is associated with love, passion, and warmth. When I see red I immediately correlate it to love and strength. I believe when a woman or man wears red it’s a powerful statement color that can make any neutral color outfit seem like a redefined bold aesthetic outfit.
Don’t be afraid to tie the color red into your wardrobe, 10/10 times it will come out perfectly like the photo inspirations shown above. It can even make some of your casual outfits seem so versatile.
